Today we are going to be exploring the sports world as a whole. When you think of greatness what comes is often associated with all kinds of accolades. Lets explore some of those records that are out of reach and may never be broken. Richard Petty has 200 Nascar victories. The next closest total is 105 by David Pearson. Combined it would take Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt and Jimmy Johnson's career wins to pass this man. Petty has also won 7 championships and that record may be broken if Johnson keeps his antics up. Everybody knows how great Jerry Rice was in his days with the 49ers. Eventually this record will fall if the NFL continues its pass happy phase. Rice finished his career with 22,895 receiving yards and even though Calvin Johnson 1,306 yards per season he would still need to do that for 12 more years to pass Rice. A record in futility, the Buccaneers hold the record for most consecutive losses at 26. Starting in their inaugural season of 1976 they carried 14 straight losses into the 1977 season where on their 13th game against the saints (and Archie Manning) they won. Throwing a no hitter is hard in upon itself. What about a not hitter in 2 consecutive starts? Johnny Van Der Meer did just that. Only 30 pitchers in baseball have ever thrown 2 or more no hitters but none besides Johnny can claim they have done it back to back. Jacoby Jones ran back this Kick for 109 yards. A few years back Antonio Cromartie did the same against the Vikings. The 109 yard play Can only be tied. John Wooden coached the UCLA bruins to 7 straight NCAA basketball titles. Do you think this record will ever be broken, considering this is the time of the "1 and done" athlete? Can schools bring in 8 straight years of 5 star recruits? I suppose its possible but highly unlikely. Bret Favre and his 297 consecutive games played. Favre sits in the same position as Cal Ripken Jr. and Lou Gehrig. To think that a person could survive the brutality of the NFL for nearly 20 straight season and not miss a game is amazing. London fletcher is the closest active player on the list at 212 but I don't see him playing long enough to challenge Favre. Notes: Records not shown; Ricky Henderson's steals record. Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game, Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak. 1971-72 Laker's 33 consecutive wins.
